Kaimana Banes
Born and raised on the North Shore of Oʻahu, Kaimana is a surfer and artist whose life is deeply intertwined with the ocean and the natural world. In Hawaiian, his name translates to “power of the sea”—Kai meaning ocean and Mana signifying spiritual power or life force—a meaning that reflects his connection with the sea. His days revolve around nature, whether riding waves or shaping clay.
Creativity and a lifelong pursuit of self-expression sit at the core of his practice. Through surfing, ceramics, modeling, and piano, Kaimana explores movement, rhythm, and form, using each medium as a way to expand his mind and express himself in his most raw and honest state.
